John Mayer performs a superb acoustic version of Neon, live at the Soundstage in 2005. Check out the killer solo in the middle of the song. If you happen to be unfamiliar with John Mayer’s stuff, check out his albums! Neon is from Room For Squares, but he has several other great albums with a ton of great acoustic music. If you’re hanfin’ around, check out the older post a guy doing a pretty cool cover of Waiting On The World To Change (an acoustic version of course!)!

A Tenacious D tribute to the best song in the world! If only they had remembered the best song in the world and recorded an acoustic version. If you are a rock fan with even a mild sense of humor, it’d be near impossible not to enjoy this tune. They couldn’t have only been trying to be funny, because Tribute by tenacious D turned out to be a pretty cool rock song. (ok, this isn’t a 100% acoustic version, but Dave Grohl is playing drums with Tenacious D so it seemed like a good choice. Don’t throw tomatoes!)

Shinedown recorded an acoustic version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s song, Simple Man, and released it on theirĀ  2003 album entitled Leave A Whisper. They also released a video for the acoustic version of the cover and it spread like wildfire. Lead singer, Brent Smith shines (no pun intended) on this one with his emotonal release and powerful pipes. After his friend, Dimebag Darrell died in 2004, the song was often dedicated to Darrell as a tribute to his life as it is here in the live video performance.
