Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Acoustic Version of Pride and Joy

by Joe on March 11, 2009

Here’s blues guitar legend Stevie Ray Vaughan playing an acoustic version of his hit song Pride and Joy. Take a look at how relaxed his hands are – thumb up over the neck, fingers coming several inches off the fretboard and hammering down to emphasize the rhythm – without sacrificing any precision. Part of his MTV Unplugged set, this song was recorded just months before his tragic death in a plane crash. Vaughan’s last performance featured a jam with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, and his brother Jimmie.  Not a bad way to go out.
